Gonçalo Maia Caetano is a Portuguese classical guitarist based in London. He completed his Advanced Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Michael Lewin, having previously graduated from the Academy with a First-Class Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Arts degree with Distinction.

As a performer, Gonçalo has appeared in concerts throughout Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom. He has performed at a number of prestigious venues, including Kings Place and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, as well as the Wiener Saal in Salzburg, Austria.

Gonçalo has received recognition in numerous national and international competitions. His awards include The Musicians’ Company Award and First Prize at the prestigious Prince’s Prize Competition. In 2025, he was awarded Second Prize at the Montenegro International Guitar Competition.

Throughout his studies and professional career, Gonçalo has worked with many of the world’s leading guitarists, participating in masterclasses with artists including David Russell, Fabio Zanon, Aniello Desiderio, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Roland Dyens, Laura Young, and Carlo Marchione, among others.

Alongside his work as a classical guitarist, Gonçalo has a strong interest in jazz. In 2020, he joined the Phemo Quartet as a bass player. The ensemble has since performed at notable venues including the Vortex Jazz Club and Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank. The quartet is currently preparing the release of its debut album, Anti-Revelation.
